Nuts and Bolts

Birthdays

Birthdays are special times for children!  We celebrate in a special and simple way in the Owl Friend class.  Students receive a special birthday crown, can pick a birthday book to bring home, and we sing "Happy Birthday".  Birthday goodies, such as cupcakes, are not allowed.

Guest Readers

Guest readers are always welcome.  If you have a book that you just love to read aloud and would like to share it with our class, please send me an email and we'll get you scheduled!

Extra Clothes

Spills, wet slides, and bathroom accidents all occur in kindergarten.  Please send an extra set of clothes labeled with your child's name to school.  These will be kept in your child's cubby.  We have extra clothes in the nurse's office, but often students do not enjoy wearing these.

Please do not send toys to school.

Toys can get lost and/or broken at school, which can lead to tears and sadness.  Also, it is difficult for students to understand how to share a toy from home with everyone at school.  Obviously, if a child is unwilling to share, this too can cause hurt feelings.  If a toy does come to school in a backpack, your child will be expected to leave it in the backpack.  If it does come out during the school day, it will be placed on my desk until the end of the day.  I do my best to remember to give items back to students at the end of each school day.
